Aaron’s Critical Lens Checklist

  1. Read the lens.
  2. Choose word that are unfamiliar or have more than one meaning and circle them.
  3. List as many synonyms as possible for each of these words.
  4. Create many restatements of the original lens statement using the synonyms in different pairings.
  5. Use these statements to understand the depth of the quote.
  6. Create a final restatement that you will use to describe the meaning in a short paragraph.
